About Tariq Drabu

Tariq was born and educated in Manchester. He went to Manchester University in 1982 to study dentistry and graduated in December 1986 at the age of 21 making him one of the youngest ever dentists ever to graduate in this country.

After graduation he worked in hospital dentistry for a number of years with posts at Manchester Dental Hospital, Stafford District General Hospital, and Withington Hospital in South Manchester. He then spent three years as an associate dental surgeon in the Trafford area of Manchester. During all of this time he maintained his interest in oral surgery with a series of part time clinical posts within local hospitals.

In 1993 Tariq went to work abroad in Saudi Arabia in Riyadh and Taif within busy large general hospitals. He returned to the UK at the end of 1996 having passed his Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDSRCSEd) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He continued his work in oral surgery and in January 1998 he purchased the practice at Wood Street and renamed it Langley Dental Practice.

Tariq took over a declining practice and rapidly saw it expand and increase patient numbers. He continued to maintain his interest in oral surgery with part time teaching and lecturing posts at Manchester Dental Hospital. Over the past 15 years Tariq has taught, lectured to and mentored over 500 dentists in oral surgery.

In 2005 Tariq completely rebuilt the practice and transformed it from a small cramped two chair surgery premises into a state of the art four chair facility. He has developed a practice to be one of the leading practices in the Greater Manchester area with very high standards and an excellent reputation.

Tariq has always maintained his passion and interest in primary care oral surgery and has also developed his career and qualifications. In 2002 he was accredited by the General Dental Council as a specialist in oral surgery (GDC registration 61705). He spent nine years teaching and lecturing in oral surgery at Manchester Dental Hospital to postgraduate students. In 2008 he was awarded a postgraduate diploma (PGDip) in oral and maxillofacial surgery from the University of Manchester.
