About Dr Tariq Drabu
Dr Tariq Drabu is a Manchester born and educated dentist. He attended Manchester University and graduated as one of the youngest dentists to graduate in the United Kingdom at only twenty one years old.
Once graduated, Dr Tariq Drabu started work in hospital dentistry at various hospitals throughout the area including Stafford District General Hospital, Manchester Dental Hospital and Withington Hospital, based in South Manchester.
After which he spend a further three years working as an associate dental surgeon. While working in hospital dentistry, Dr Tariq Drabu continued to have a passion for oral surgery and carried out a number of clinical posts in local hospitals around the area.
Dr Tariq Drabu headed to Saudi Arabia in 1993 with the opportunity to work in some of the larger general hospitals in the country. He worked in both Taif and Riyadh before returning to the United Kingdom in 1996. Dr Tariq Drabu then went on to pass the Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDSRCSEd) at the Royal College of Surgeons based in Edinburgh. During this time he worked in oral surgery until purchasing his own practice in 1998, which is the Langley Dental Practice in Wood Street.
The Langley Dental Practice was a declining business with only two dentist chairs and servicing over 1,500 patients. Within a short period Dr Tariq Drabu had built up quite a reputation in the area for dentistry and the practice started to grow. While growing Langley Dental Practice, the interest in oral surgery never went away and Dr Tariq Drabu would teach and lecture students at the Manchester Dental Hospital. In fifteen years, Dr Tariq Drabu has lectured, mentored and taught more than five hundred oral surgery dental students.
In 2005, Dr Tariq Drabu spent over £350,000 refurbishing Langley Dental Practice, turning it into a modern facility and turning it into one of the leading dental practices based in Greater Manchester. The surgery offers the highest standards with an outstanding reputation.
Over the years Dr Tariq Drabu continued to develop his qualifications and career, while maintaining his interest in oral surgery. By 2002 he received his accreditation as a specialist oral surgeon from the General Dental Council. He also spent nine years lecturing and teaching oral surgery at the Manchester Dental Hospital to a number of postgraduate students. In 2008 he achieved his postgraduate diploma in maxillofacial and oral surgery at the University of Manchester.
He is an oral surgery tutor at the Faculty of General Practice in London based at the Royal College of Surgeons and he is the clinical lead dentist at the Oral Surgery CATS services at NHS Heywood Middleton and Rochdale and NHS Oldham. Dr Tariq Drabu was also nominated as a finalist in the Dental Defence Union VPD Trainer of the Year category in 2007 for his years of dedication to mentoring and training those dentist which were newly qualified.
Dr Tariq Drabu is dedicated to continue learning and developing his knowledge, which is also why he encourages his team at Langley Dental Practice to constantly train and learn to achieve a high level of experience and knowledge, which is beneficial to all their patients.
2010 he completed an Advanced Certificate in Facilitated Learning in Healthcare Practice at the University of Central Lancashire and he then went on to complete his Level 7 Certificate in Executive Management in 2012 at the Institute of Learning and Management.
He has been the Chairman of Bury and Rochdale Local Dental Committee and a member of the British Dental Association General Dental Practice Committee over the years running from 2003 through to 2009.
His most recent accomplishment is his appointment as a part time staff specialist at the University of Central Lancashire Dental Clinic for oral surgery. Here he is responsible for teaching and training postgraduate dentists in oral surgery.
